Poker Run May 8 - Athens VW club

This year's Poker Run will be on Saturday May 8. We will start around 10:00am. This year's route will take us to some of our favorite stops from past runs. It will be a little shorter than last year and there won't be as many steep grades.

The host hotel this year is the Super 8. It is under the same managment as the Best Western and it is less expensive, plus they have an indoor pool. The rooms this year are $59.00 per night and they have a block of rooms reserved for us. 706 878 2191 is the number for reservations. Tell them you are with the Athens VW club. (smoking rooms and rooms with jacuzzis are available, but not in our block and jacuzzi rooms cost more)

Registration Info: $30.00 entry fee - gets you an event shirt (new look this year) and one entry to draw cards. Additional shirts are $10.00.

Send your entry fee to: Jon Hobus, 1041 Elder Ridge Dr., Bishop GA 30621. Be sure to include your shirt size, name, and contact info. If you want extra shirts please order them at the same time.

Please make checks to Jon Hobus and put Poker Run in the memo space.

The shirt order goes in April 28, so get your sizes to me by then to be sure we have your size.

We will meet Saturday morning at the park behind the Best Western Conference Center in Helen. Come early enough to sign in and get your shirt, map, and directions. We will leave at 10:30am. Our first stop is Fenders Diner. We will arrive there 11:15-11:30ish for an early lunch.

New Balljoints and front brakes....now if i can find where my brake fluid is going i'll be ready...

Ball joints ......... oh yeah I forgot super beetle style....

Rolling early also thought about hitting the gas station for a quick picture in the morning 8ish its about 9 miles off the highway on the way up to the Poker run. If anyone going up is wanting to stop give me a ring looks like a place to the side for trailers for a few. ( unless your driving the whole way ? ) which would also be cool

I will set up the registration table at 9:00 am Saturday. I will be set up by the parking lot at the park. I hope to have all the morning's registrations done by 10:00. We will get lined up and head out at 10:30.

After the final stop and prizes at Jake Raby's shop, we'll head back to Helen for the post-run cookout. We'll have hotdogs and hamburgers. There is no cost, all the eats are provided by our club. Just bring your favorite beverage.
